Ray Jones reports. Thunder clouds threatened but the music held the weather back. Oasis took to the stage at Wembley yesterday evening after a rousing set by Kasabian. No fancy footwork, just a series of glorious rock anthems performed to perfection to an adoring packed house. “Any Scousers in the house” drew laughter and boos – “Any cockneys in the house” raised a roar fit for the Place of Champions.
Wembley Stadium is a great place to see a gig. My seats were towards the rear but the sound was crisp and loud.
I travelled out from Central London by Chiltern Trains from Marylebone. It only took a matter of minutes. Positively the best way to get to Wembley while the Jubilee Line tortures us with weekend closures.
My wife and eight-year-old son met me there, having travelled by car. Parking was easy (but did cost £20) and traffic flowed easily after the show.
Its £4 a pint at Wembley and a burger might cost more than Mc D’s but I am giving this whole day one big thumbs up.
Oasis are no longer the bad boys of rock, but last night they certainly rocked Wembley Stadium.
