Having spent most weekends of my primary school years zooming around Roller City in Southend, I was delighted to hear that the people behind Roller Disco at the Renaissance Rooms in Vauxhall have erected a temporary skating rink at The O2.
Could a skating session in Greenwich heal the pain of Roller City’s sad closure in the early 90s?
The skating is retro-80s chic – proper chunky quad roller skates instead of inlines, and a range of different music nights are planned to coincide with the various artists playing at the Arena.
Marshals are on hand to help you get started if necessary, and to show you a few advanced moves if you’re feeling brave.
For the best roller disco experience, book the late session (8-10pm) so you can enjoy the funky disco lights after dark!
Yay! I love roller disco! What a result.
Thanks for letting me know about this Jenny! Can you tell me how long its going to be there for, and how much a session costs?
Hi londonlover
Roller Disco will be at The O2 until 5 September – so plenty of time to do some skating!
Prices range from £5-£10 for a two-hour session, depending on which session you go to, and that includes skate hire. A family ticket for 4 people is £25. If you book online there are also additional ticket handling charges, etc.
There’s more information and booking on The O2 website.
Happy skating!
Wooo it sounds fun. Did you do any tricks?
Ha ha – not really but I did manage to stay upright! The marshalls seemed more than happy to help people to learn though, so maybe next time.
