Remembering the Blitz is definitely more about honouring the memory of that time. I was brought up with many a fond story from this era from my grandparents and a Grandma who sang us all the songs which is why we love and perform them now. Yes she tells us of the hard times but the overal memory she has is of the good spirit and the desire to enjoy oneself despite the difficulties.

I’m all for people dressing up and having fun in period costume but the Blitz wasn’t really about hanging out in a arch doing the Lindy Hop. ‘The Blitz really is the bomb’ but without the horrific reality of what it must have been like to wonder if when you get home your house and family are no longer there.
