The usual response to this, of course, is that most people don’t mind “oyster”, “tfl”, “big brother” or whoever knowing where they are, cos they have nothing to hide…!

While I applaud the idea and ease of use of the oyster card I do question the problem of data protection. It seems that everyone knows everything about anyone these days.

I also have friends in Earlsfield and it’ll be such a relief not to have to line up at Waterloo during peak hour to buy a ticket now. I even got fined once because I risked it when couldn’t face the queue, d’oh!

Here’s what the deal is with prices:

“You get a 10% discount on the standard adult cash fare for single journeys on Thames Clippers.”

So that’s 10% off anything between Â£3.20 and Â£5.30. I wonder if its still cheaper to travel by tube / train…

This is, of course, good news. However, the time when journeys further out of my travel comfort zone are usually made are at the weekend. Anybody that has travelled at the weekend, will know that it is very hard to get anywhere these days without a Masters Degree in Rail Replacement Buses in 21st Century London. The world may be your Oyster but London at the weekend makes many people crabby.
