Congratulations to The O2 which has been named the most popular music venue in the world for the fourth year running.
Last year, The O2 attracted huge gigs by the likes of Arcade Fire, Lady Gaga, Rihanna and Bon Jovi. The venue also hosted its first opera, Bizet’s Carmen, and was the location of the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals.
The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, said,
“Not only does this amazing venue beat the competition hands down for the fourth year running; its ticket sales are a whopping 50% higher than that citadel of entertainment, Madison Square Gardens. The incredible success of The O2 is a tribute to its excellent management and staff who continue to attract world class events and global stars to keep it in top spot.”
There’s lots more to come this year with shows from the cast of Glee, Kylie and international netball as England take on New Zealand. The O2 will also be an Olympic venue in 2012, hosting a number of exciting sports events.
