We were Married in Barn Holland and then We went to Den Haag to Catch the Queen Wilhelmina Cruise Ship to London Port. We embarked from the Cruise ship then by Black Cabbie, to what was then the Columbia House, for Service men and women.
The Columbia House was cold and Haunted and we still made it Work, The Streets were cold and the tourism was great. We selected to touring in the Odd hours of the day. We even saw Prince of Whales and Diana in their morning walk to one of the Church Towers they visit, or walk to in the morning.
The Beef Eater March and Parades were great too, but that was secondary because we tried to take in all the sites.
The restaurants were always active with Lovely People. and even the Hogs Edge Railroad like in Harry Potter was even there back then. As the portray you have to look for it to ” Find it”. All in all it was a good Experience because it laid my foundation to our Marriage of 37 years to date. In addition; My wife’s Sisters from the Hospitals we were able to reminisce the associations of the past of the Visa Jobs and other Wonderful Opportunities of the London Life Styles.
My Christmas days in London prior to Marriage were cold and Lonely but got active when accepted to some of the Clubs. The Era of dance and Cabaret were alive and well at that time.
In those days the Service folks had all the base Activities to go to via the Bus system in Great Britain and in North, and South Wales. The One week was not enough.
From Scotland to London to the Portsmouth, to the Isle of White, Brighton Beach, and all other outlets England did Swing in our lives.
Even Hit a Hole in One at the Newbury Golf Course. Met Mount Baton at one of the Pubs there. Also. Time flew like it was a movie in a time machine.
In Short had a good time in Great Britain and England, and even Ireland on the way back! Got stopped in Cork and was able to embark for a few hours till the Airlines fuel was replaced do to a strike on fuel back those days.
