On a balmy summer’s evening over 10,000 people settled down in Trafalgar Square to watch the Royal Opera’s production of La Traviata, courtesy of BP Summer Big Screens.
Some perched on the sides of the fountains, some relaxed in front of the National Gallery , others just sprawled on picnic blankets in the square itself. There were even chairs for those who got there early enough!
The flawless performance went on until late evening, with live artists entertaining the crowd during the two intervals. The atmosphere was amazing - the audience was a excited mix of visitors and Londoners all enjoying the spectacle.
We had just left the launch of Gay Icons at the National Portrait Gallery and were so pleased to have the chance to join in the fun on such a beautiful evening.
