London Theatre News: Fatal Attraction, A View From The Bridge, Blithe Spirit, Curious Incident, Stephen Ward

The number of stars announced recently to fill the London stage would make a small galaxy jealous. Here are a few of our favourites:

The Truman Show and Californication actress Natascha McElhone is heading to the Theatre Royal Haymarket to set fear into the hearts of rabbits everywhere when she stars in the stage adaptation of Fatal Attraction in March.

A View From the Bridge

British film star Mark Strong, who is consistently brilliant in movies including Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and Kick-Ass, is returning to the London theatre for the first time in more than a decade to lead the cast of Arthur Miller’s tragic drama A View From The Bridge, opening at the Young Vic in April. Strong will appear alongside former Spooks actress Nicola Walker, who won an Olivier Award for her performance in The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time last year.

Blithe Spirit

Atlantis I star Jemima Rooper, who played Medusa in the hit BBC family series, will star in Blithe Spirit at the Gielgud Theatre. The One Man, Two Guvnors original cast member plays a dead wife summoned by psychic Madame Arcati, played by Angela Lansbury, in Noël Coward’s comedy. When Blithe Spirit finishes its limited run at the Gielgud, The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time will move in after leaving the Apollo.

Other Desert Cities

The Old Vic will transform its auditorium into an in-the-round space for a season beginning with the UK premiere of familial drama Other Desert Cities in March.

Stephen Ward

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s hit new musical Stephen Ward has added three months on to its booking period and is now booking until the end of May. The collaboration with lyricist Don Black and playwright Christopher Hampton looks at the Profumo Affair through the eyes of the society osteopath Ward.
