Are you called William or Catherine? Do you fancy a free trip to the theatre?

Then head down to the tkts booth on Leicester Square early on the morning of the big day (Friday 29 April): if you’re among the first 10 Williams and Catherines in the queue, you can get one free ticket to the show of your choice!

You can choose a show on the big day itself, or book ahead (subject to availability).

What show would you go for? A wedding theme (Mamma Mia!); a Queen theme (We Will Rock You); or a ROYAL wedding theme (Betty Blue Eyes)?! Or something totally different: check out our Top 10 London Musicals for something to inspire you.

Way back in 1980, when Nicholas Nickleby and Educating Rita were the hot theatre shows in the West End, the Society of London Theatre (SOLT) set up a half-price ticket booth in Leicester Square.

Since then, what’s become known as the tkts booth has sold an incredible 10.9 million tickets to more than 1,200 shows. Its friendly staff are responsible for 1 in 39 theatre tickets sold in the West End.

Tomorrow the booth, based in the Clocktower Building on the south side of Leicester Square, celebrates its 30th birthday. tkts will be giving away a free theatre ticket to the first 30 people in the queue tomorrow morning. If you’re not able to get up that early, make sure you grab one of the tkts scratchcards being handed out in Leicester Square tomorrow and Wednesday to win some great theatrical prizes.

Let us know if you’re one of the lucky few in the comments below!

It all began last December when a Facebook campaign put Californian band Rage Against the Machine’s song Killing In The Name at the top of the UK single charts, beating X Factor winner Joe McElderry to Christmas number one. It was the first time in five years that a winner from the TV talent show ( as well as producer Simon Cowell) had not enjoyed a Christmas No. 1.

More than 180,000 people applied for tickets to the concert via an online lottery. I was one of the lucky 40,000 winners, but that didn’t stop several hundred ticketless fans scaling the fence.

It was a star-studded list of support bands including punk-veterans Gallows, hip-hop superstar Roots Manuva and gypsy-punks Gogol Bordello, who warmed up the crowd.

The crowd was ferocious when RATM came on stage and the band didn’t disappoint. Their rendition of popular 1992 track Bullet in the Head confirmed the band had lost none of its raw energy.

RATM called Jon and Tracy Morter, the couple who orchestrated the Facebook campaign, on to the stage in order to present a cheque — 100% of the proceeds from the Killing In The Name single were donated to the homeless charity Shelter.

Zach De la Rocha then paid tribute to the British punk tradition with a cover of The Clash‘s White Riot.

Finally the band left the stage before the encore, and the sound system pumped out X Factor winner’s single The Climb, while quotes from the newspapers filled the screens recounting the countdown to the Christmas Number one single sales. The words flashed up: “YOU Made History” as the the band rejoined the stage to play their biggest hit and last song of the night, Killing in the Name, and the crowd went wild.

We loved the Sugababe’s sexy set (new member Jade Ewen has the longest legs we’ve ever seen!); La Roux’s crazy multi-coloured suit; and Pixie Lott’s general adorableness.

And we were most humbled to see that, like us, Paloma Faith just couldn’t get a drink past the bouncer and into the viewing area. Not that she was very inconspicuous, dressed in a pirate hat with a large glittery P on it!

Music and showbiz aside, the event aimed to raise awareness of cervical cancer.

Visit www.showyourstyle.co.uk to find out how to reduce the risk of cervical cancer, and to show your support for the campaign.

Were you at Koko last night? Who was your favourite act?

Azure blue skies, shocking pink ribbons and a thousand purple balloons provided the colouful backdrop for Vinopolis’ 10th birthday celebrations today.

TV wine expert Oz Clarke was the velvety-voiced star turn. He treated the crowd to reminiscences about being Dom Jolleyed in SE1 and succumbing to the allure of the Green Fairy during a Vinopoils absinthe tasting. He also joked that Vinopolis really wanted his Big Wine Adventure chum James May to appear instead of him!

Oz, Rupert Ellwood (MD of Vinopolis) and the Mayor of Southwark cut the celebratory pink ribbon, the nets opened and the purple balloons gently spilled over the London skyline, each carrying a pair of complimentary Vinopolis Grapevine tickets. Catch one if you can as it’s a really good tour. There’s also a mystery prize for whoever finds the balloon that travels the furthest from Vinopolis!

Check the Vinopolis website for more special birthday events.
