London is a fast-moving city, but time appears to be moving at a supersonic pace in this stunning time-lapse video. Keep your eyes peeled for London’s most famous sights, including City Hall, Covent Garden, The Gherkin, Liverpool Street Station, Millennium Bridge, Battersea Power Station, Piccadilly Circus, Tower Bridge, London Eye, Westminster and Canary Wharf.

London Video of the Week: London Time-Lapse by Lucas Veuve http://blog.visitlondon.com/2013/01/london-video-of-the-week-london-time-lapse-by-lucas-veuve/ http://blog.visitlondon.com/2013/01/london-video-of-the-week-london-time-lapse-by-lucas-veuve/#comments Fri, 04 Jan 2013 14:00:02 +0000 http://blog.visitlondon.com/?p=31092

Thanks to reader Lucas Veuve who got in touch with this fab London video. Lucas says:

“When I first moved to London, I was struck by the number of people living in this great city and the speed at which they move from one place to another. I wanted to capture how I saw London when I first moved here.”

We think he’s done a great job. Look out for great shots of St Paul’s Cathedral, the Gherkin and The Shard, Tower Bridge, the London Eye, Piccadilly Circus, Covent Garden, Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, the Southbank Centre and Trafalgar Square.

Video of the Week: Blue’s Londony Eurovision Video http://blog.visitlondon.com/2011/05/video-of-the-week-blues-londony-eurovision-video/ http://blog.visitlondon.com/2011/05/video-of-the-week-blues-londony-eurovision-video/#comments Fri, 13 May 2011 16:00:12 +0000 http://blog.visitlondon.com/?p=21099

Blue’s Eurovision entry features a great video of London.

How many famous London landmarks can you spot behind the boys? I’ve counted the London Eye, St Paul’s Cathedral, the Gherkin, the Shard, and Tate Modern, to name a few…

Good luck to the boys tomorrow!

Behind the Scenes at One New Change Shopping Centre http://blog.visitlondon.com/2010/10/behind-the-scenes-at-one-new-change-shopping-centre/ http://blog.visitlondon.com/2010/10/behind-the-scenes-at-one-new-change-shopping-centre/#comments Fri, 22 Oct 2010 14:00:40 +0000 http://blog.visitlondon.com/?p=16175 The brown glass exterior of One New Change Jean Nouvel's architecture offers some interesting angles St Paul's Cathedral is reflected... ... and revealed! One New Change's open-plan interior One New Change office space The cool, futuristic-looking glass elevator shaft The glass and open spaces help incorporate the City surroundings One New Change liftshaft

Yesterday I got a sneak peek at One New Change – London’s newest shopping centre – opposite St Paul’s Cathedral on Cheapside in the City.

When it opens next Thursday (28 October), One New Change will have the honour of being Central London’s largest retail destination. It contains 60 stores over three floors (mostly high-end high street such as Reiss, Hobbs and Kurt Geiger) as well as several restaurants and food outlets, including Jamie Oliver‘s Barbecoa, an M&S Simply Food and a Gordon Ramsay restaurant (the latter is due to open in a few months’ time). Plus there’ll be office space for 3,000 workers.

I was impressed by the One New Change development. Designed by Pritzker Prize-winning architect Jean Nouvel, the structure is predominantly steel and glass, which reflects and reveals the stunning St Paul’s in myriad ways. I also liked the fact the brown and red-tinted glass seemed to pay homage to the 70s styling of the nearby Barbican.

I was taken up to the roof – a huge space that’ll be open to the public and gives access to an incredible London panorama that takes in the London Eye, The Shard, The Barbican, the tip of The Gherkin and, of course, St Paul’s. (Photos from the roof are embargoed until next week so I can’t share them yet. But check our Flickrpool from next Thursday: www.flickr.com/groups/visitlondon)

Best of all, One New Change is handily located a short(ish) walk from VL Towers. I think I’m going to be a regular visitor!

Video of the Week: Random Pieces of London http://blog.visitlondon.com/2010/10/video-of-the-week-randon-pieces-of-london/ http://blog.visitlondon.com/2010/10/video-of-the-week-randon-pieces-of-london/#comments Fri, 22 Oct 2010 12:00:56 +0000 http://blog.visitlondon.com/?p=15940

Daniele Tenerani got in touch this week to tell us about this video. Three weeks ago, Daniele visited London, and had a great time filming some different parts of the city.

Here’s the results: a great little film that takes you from Covent Garden to Little Venice, to the terraces at Upton Park and the banks of the Thames.

Video of the Week: Shirley Bassey’s There’s No Place Like London http://blog.visitlondon.com/2010/01/video-of-the-week-shirley-basseys-theres-no-place-like-london/ http://blog.visitlondon.com/2010/01/video-of-the-week-shirley-basseys-theres-no-place-like-london/#comments Fri, 15 Jan 2010 10:56:01 +0000 http://blog.visitlondon.com/?p=5601

We love this piece of retro nuttiness from Shirley Bassey. She sings! She dances! She kisses horses on the mouth!

Back in 1982, Bassey made a promo video for the Tourist Board, and here’s the result.

Check out the cameos by Kermit the Frog, Frank Bruno and Michael Caine. Can you spot long-lost London landmarks Concorde and Cats? And isn’t it weird seeing a vid of London without the Eye, the Gherkin and Canary Wharf?

Bonus Friday points for spotting one London show that spans the decades…
