Last night I had a look round the recently-opened Corinthia Hotel.

The hotel is dripping with five-star touches, from the huge bathrooms, to the walk-in wardrobes to the soon-to-open on-site Harrods store.

What I’d really like to show you is the beyond-luxurious ESPA Life spa which is due to open this month, but it’s all top secret until then. Take a look at the CGI images on The Corinthia’s website and you’ll start to get the idea.

Other points to note are the hotel’s two restaurants, The Northall serving up modern British cuisine and seafood restaurant Massimo (where Cameron Diaz, Hugh Grant and Johnny Depp have all been spotted).

And should you want to leave the hotel, it’s handily located within a few minutes of Embankment and Charing Cross station and is flanked by Boris bike docking stations.

This morning, I looked round the brand new London Syon Park hotel, which opened earlier this week.

On entering the lobby, the first thing I noticed was the hotel’s more unusual residents – a glasshouse of exotic butterflies happily fluttering around with fresh flowers and fruit to feast on!

London Syon Park has lots of lovely features, from its beautiful parkland surroundings on the edge of the Syon House estate to the Brownie Bar, which serves up sweet treats from the hotel’s pastry kitchen.

The hotel also boasts a new restaurant, The Capability, which aims to use as much produce as possible from the hotel’s own orchard and herb and kitchen gardens.

We also had a wander round Syon Park’s new spa, Kallima, including its very soothing-looking relaxation area. If you fancy a day of pampering at Kallima, don’t forget to enter our competition to win a treatment for two.

On Sunday, I went to the beautiful Landmark London hotel to sample its champagne brunch.

Brunch, to me, usually means pancakes or bagels but the Landmark have turned it into a three-course meal.

Served beneath the beneath the hotel’s beautiful glass atrium, you help yourself to whatever you fancy – and there’s a lot on offer.

I enjoyed food from the starter (or Full English breakfast) section, as much of a roast dinner as I could manage and a selection of desserts from the mouthwatering display: The desserts on offer included a chocolate fountain, Halloween cupcakes, fresh fruit and mini éclairs. Yes, I was very full afterwards!

Also available were blueberry pancakes, seafood, cold cuts of meat and cottage pie.

Alongside your food, you can enjoy unlimited champagne. There was also a cellist and pianist playing laid back music to accompany the meal.

At £75, the brunch isn’t cheap but you do get a lot of food for your money and it’s a lovely way to treat yourself (or someone else) on a Sunday. Plus, you probably won’t need to eat again for the rest of the day!

Champagne Sunday brunch at the Landmark London. £75 per person including unlimited food and champagne. Every Sunday 12.30-3pm. Reservation essential

On Saturday night I went to the shiny new Park Plaza Westminster Bridge to see the legendary Natalie Cole perform.

Natalie wowed the audience with her amazing vocals, energy and glamour (she was dressed in a short sparkly dress, big statement earrings and the ultimate accessory of a glittering microphone!)

It’s no surprise that a woman who knew Frank Sinatra as “Uncle Frank” knows how to put on a good show and Natalie received a standing ovation. She worked her way through classics and covered songs by some of the greats including Ella Fitzgerald and Dinah Washington.

Celebrity spot of the night was Bruce Forsyth in the audience (he received a polite round of applause just for walking to his table!)

But the highlight of the evening was a “duet” of Unforgettable between Natalie Cole and her late father, Nat King Cole. Natalie sung live, while archive footage of Nat King Cole played on two big screens.

Next up at the Park Plaza Hotel Westminster Bridge is Paul Young on 11 December 2010. £95 per ticket, includes four-course meal and concert. Book tickets.

World Cup fever has hit London. Hostels, hotels and many of the capital’s 6,000 pubs, bars and restaurants are waving colourful flags from across the world in celebration of the world’s largest sporting event (click here for details of another decent-sized sporting event coming 2012). Over 300 languages spoken in London so your football team – whoever they may be – has a following and a welcome here.

If you’re in London for the next few days and are keen to learn more about the World Cup and watch quality theatre at the same time, check out live comedy show called Bend it Like Beauty. This is a one-man performance by highly acclaimed and award winning South African actor Ben Voss. He plays well-to-do business woman of the year Beauty Ramampelepele who has flown to London to welcome the world to the World Cup in South Africa.

This charming satire offers a fascinating insight into the humour and openness of South Africa and its people, right here in London. It is an hour-and-a- half comedy performance that had me in stitches. Ben Voss offers hilarious tongue-in-cheek tips on best practice for attending the World Cup: “when you pack – take trainers, you will have to run” and “please, if you’re British, don’t dance”.

This is theatre away from the flashing lights and big-set productions of the West End and based just a short distance from the Brit Oval: the home of another much-loved British sport (cricket). The play is a simple, comic satire with a wonderful script that manages to remain light and funny while still managing to convey serious truths about a young African democracy in the high-profile role of host nation for the 2010 FIFA World Cup.

Mid-way through a fascinating chat with her audience Beauty answers the phone with “no, don’t worry its fine, I’ve had enough now”. Not too long after this she is gone – leaving us wanting more from the magician who made one and a half hours in a small basic theatre feel like an entire week with a good friend.

Bend it Like Beauty runs at Oval House Theatre until 12 June 2010.

I’m lucky enough to have been shown round many of London’s hotels. I’ve nosed round suites, inspected toiletries on offer and nodded approvingly at iPod facilities. But last night, the Pestana Chelsea Bridge Hotel topped them all and let me stay overnight and experience the hotel first hand.

First off was the delicious food in the hotel’s restaurant. We were treated to a selection of tasty Portuguese tapas (the Pestana group is Portuguese) including lamb meatballs, tomato and mozzarella skewers, sweet potato and squid, and mussels. For a main course, I had chicken and chunky chips with a specially made piri-piri sauce that we all agreed should be bottled! And dessert didn’t disappoint: chocolate soufflé with fruit skewers (perfect for dipping into the melted chocolate centre.)

After marvelling at the view from Swissotel The Howard last week, I was also hugely impressed at the view of Battersea Power Station from the Pestana. You can also see the London Eye, Battersea Park and even into the trains running alongside (but the windows are triple-glazed, so you don’t hear them.)

Staying in the hotel made me appreciate London in a new way. It was an evening of pure relaxation, secure in the knowledge that my laundry, washing-up and household chores were miles away and there was happily nothing I could do about them!

The room has all the amenities you’d expect from a four-star hotel including an iPod dock, big bed, huge shower, safe, and tea and coffee making facilities. It also has an interesting design feature: a window between the bedroom and bathroom covered with a blind. The control for the blind is on the bedroom side, so you can peep into the bathroom if you’re curious as to what your partner/roommate/colleague is getting up to!

After a lovely breakfast, I headed to the office (covered in fluff from the brand-new towels), thinking I could get used to this executive lifestyle!
