Rihanna Joins Diva Dream Team at Madame Tussauds

Madame Tussauds have a new wax figure this October: R&B star, Rihanna.

The singer’s likeness takes centre stage in the attraction’s interactive Music Zone alongside female performers including:

  • Kylie Minogue
  • Britney Spears
  • Lady Gaga
  • Amy Winehouse

The sexy singer is captured in the sleek style she wore for her X Factor duet with last year’s winner Matt Cardle; a fitted black dress, slit to the hip, with bright cherry-red hair.

“We are thrilled to welcome Rihanna to Madame Tussauds London,” said Liz Edwards, PR Manager at the attraction. ”Her inclusion couldn’t be more timely as her Loud tour arrives in the capital this week. We are sure she will hit the right note with our guests as demand for her figure has been huge since her appearance on The X Factor 2010. Rihanna is one of the biggest music stars of the moment and is a perfect addition to the diva dream team of female artists we have here at the attraction.”

Summer Holiday Activities for Kids in London

How will you entertain your kids in London over the school summer holidays? Luckily, London’s attractions are on hand to help with a host of fun activities…

The Science Museum is inviting families to spend their summer in space. Pick up a passport and make your way through the Solar System. Gaze at satellites, explore the Apollo 10 Command Module and see a telescope made from baked bean cans. There are lots of out-of-this world activities too.

Madame Tussauds is declaring a Marvel-ous summer in celebration of new film Captain America: The First Avenger. You can have your photo taken with the “star” of the movie, check out some authentic props, and step behind the superhero’s indestructible shield. Plus, the first 20 kids dressed as a superhero get in free on Mondays between 25 July and 22 August!

Ahoy there! The National Maritime Museum has a seaside theme this summer, with loads of events exploring what the sea means to young visitors. You can find out how people have interacted with the sea through the ages, have a go in a specially designed play area, and take part in hands-on nautical workshops.

Crafty kids can make everything from Japanese slippers to butterfly mobiles, koi-shaped biscuits and garden gnomes at the Geffrye Museum this summer. The brilliant creative workshops are themed around English and Japanese homes and gardens, to coincide with the current At Home in Japan exhibition.

When the sun comes out, head to the beach! There’s a 70m urban beach outside London’s Southbank Centre over the summer as part of the Festival of Britain celebrations. You’ll also find a row of colourful beach huts containing art exhibitions and installations, a pop-up Indian eatery, Dishoom Chowpatty Beach, and some great free events.

Justin Bieber Waxwork Coming to Madame Tussauds London this Easter

Bieber fever hit London last week as the teen superstar performed at The O2. If you enjoyed the show, you’ll be pleased to know he’ll be taking up permanent residence in the capital in the form of a waxwork at Madame Tussauds.

The singer and social media sensation will take centre stage in the Music Zone this Easter, alongside waxworks of Beyonce, Justin Timberlake and Lady Gaga.

“Beliebers” will be able to cuddle up to the Justin Bieber waxwork and use Facebook and Twitter to share news and pictures of their meeting immediately via a special interactive touch screen.

The waxwork features the original Bieber haircut (before the big chop) but as a growing 17-year old, the real Justin Bieber is already taller than the waxwork!

“It’s pretty incredible to see. I’m taller but this was a point in time,” the Grammy-nominated star commented at the waxwork’s unveiling.

Video of the Week: Marvel Comic Characters at Madame Tussauds

Marvel Super Heroes 4D officially opened at Madame Tussauds in London earlier this week.

Spreading across three floors of Madame Tussaud’s famous domed auditorium, Marvel Super Heroes 4D brings to life some of the world’s best-loved Super Heroes through a mix of 4D animation, interactive themed areas and realistic Madame Tussauds wax figures.

The film is showing in the newly installed 284-seat 4D cinema. After seeing the show, 11-year-old Nathan Wilson from Ealing, London was suitably impressed.

“The film was awesome; the Heroes came right out of the screen over your head and you could feel the robots scuttling past your legs when they invaded.  I liked it best when the Hulk clapped and sneezed – even though we got pretty wet!”

Alongside The Invisible Woman (as portrayed by Jessica Alba), and Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), the new attraction also features Madame Tussauds’ biggest-ever figure: the gargantuan 4.5m Hulk.

Indeed, the stats on the new attraction are pretty “marvel”lous:

  • The Superhero figures contain more than 1000kg of clay
  • and 100 litres of oil paint to build up the right skin tones
  • The figures have a combined total of 50,000 individually inserted hairs
  • Each figure cost £150,000 to make

The new Marvel Super Heroes 4D is open seven days a week and entry is included in admission to Madame Tussauds. Book now
