July is a great time to shop in London as major shopping areas are abuzz with festivals, pop-up shops and entertainment.
Award and App for Westfield
Congratulations to Westfield Stratford City who scooped the Best Shopping Venue gong at the 2013 Group Travel Organiser Magazine Awards. Sited in East London next to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Europe’s largest shopping centre covers a staggering 1.9 million square feet with more than 300 stores and 70 restaurants. The mall has just launched a free app for shoppers, My Westfield, which generates a customer profile based on the retailers and content they love. Download the app here.
Traffic-Free Sundays at Regent Street
West-End shopping hub Regent Street will turn traffic-free every Sunday throughout July, beginning this weekend. The street will be transformed with a fantastic array of entertainment, from circus acts to picnic benches to yoga classes. Find out more here.
Food and Flowers Festival
Feast on edible flowers and quaff floral-infused cocktails at the Food and Flowers Festival on 13 July at St Martin’s Courtyard in Covent Garden. Diners can enjoy the floral treats alfresco in the courtyard’s restaurants. There will also be live music music and cookery demonstrations.
Pet Boutique Opens in Seven Dials
Pimp up your pooch at central London’s first-ever pet boutique which has opened in Seven Dials, Covent Garden. Discerning dogs should swing by BOW WOW London, a canine emporium which features more than 200 handpicked products from around the world: think French perfume, Swarovski crystal collars and pink ponchos.
Pop-up Shops in Kingly Court
Follow in the star-studded footsteps of Lady Gaga by shopping for shoes at up-and-coming shoe designer Stephanie Hensley’s new Kingly Court pop-up shop. Open from 6-21 July, the shop will also stock clothes by Zoran Dobric. Stephanie and Zoran won the Shaftesbury Award for Emerging Designers.
