We’ve seen all kinds of things in the park near our offices (sheep, cricketers, blow-up tents, a cycling mayor), but this particular Potter’s Field stunt on Monday had us intrigued.

Hilton built a beach, in the snow, to draw attention to an illness they call Vacationitis – sufferers struggle to switch off from work even when they’re on holiday (is that you?!). Hilton’s study of 2,000 workers in the UK found more than half of those surveyed continue to take work calls while they were on holiday; and one in five people in the UK haven’t taken a holiday in more than two years.

With all the amazing things to do in London, I think it’s time you took a day off work to enjoy this brilliant city very soon. Perhaps not in your swimsuit in the snow, though.

The London cycle hire scheme is such a great way to travel round London, even Hollywood stars are getting in on the act.

Actor and politician Arnold Schwarzenegger caught up with London Mayor Boris Johnson for a quick cycle round Potters Field park this lunchtime. Arnie even brought some California sunshine with him!

I popped down to Potters Field Park this afternoon for the launch of Portavilion – a portable tent that’s coming to an open space in London near you this summer.

Rosy (the ballerina) is the semi-opaque tent’s name. Appropriately, the opening event inside Rosy was a Big Dance performance by the Siobhan Davies Dance Group in association with Sadler’s Wells. (Read about the launch of Big Dance this morning.)

Although the show was aimed at kids aged 3-7, I really enjoyed the 10-minute performance, which incorporated rubber balls, a cello and lots of bouncing and sliding.

As well as meeting Rory Hamilton-Brown and his squad, you can also ask questions, get autographs and photographs and try your hand at batting or bowling in the famous inflatable nets.
