Rachel Whiteread Installation Unveiled at Whitechapel Gallery

Rachel Whiteread’s new installation on the Whitechapel Gallery façade was unveiled today. Tree of Life (2012) is the first permanent public commission in the UK by Whiteread, who has lived near the Whitechapel Gallery in East London for the past 25 years.

The Tree of Life is an Arts and Crafts motif symbolising social renewal through the arts. The leaves are cast in bronze and covered in gold leaf. We think they look beautiful!
