Team GB Olympian Laura Trott and London Mayor Boris Johnson took to their bikes today to launch the 2013 London cycling festival RideLondon.

RideLondon is London’s new cycling festival which includes traffic-free cycling past major London attractions for families and amateurs, as well as the opportunity to spectate while some of the world’s best athletes race through the capital’s streets.

Cycling in London is one of the best ways to travel, on a hire bike, with a cycle tour, or on your own bike. RideLondon will be an entire weekend devoted to getting out and about on your bike.

Gold medalist Laura said, “It’s great to think we may have inspired people to get on their bikes and RideLondon is a great opportunity for the public to get out and join us on the roads. Cycling has always been a huge part of my family’s life and I hope that having watched the Games lots more people will be encouraged to have a go.”

RideLondon takes place between 3 and 4 August 2013. Visit www.ridelondon.co.uk for more information.

The schedule for the London 2012 Olympic Games has been released, just one month before tickets go on sale.

The first action of the Games will take place outside London, and before the Opening Ceremony: the women’s football in Cardiff, Glasgow and Coventry on 25 July.

Britain’s first gold medal could go to Mark Cavendish in the men’s cycling road race on the day after the Opening Ceremony, 28 July.

The middle weekend looks like being the most popluar. With possible appearances from Jessica Ennis, Christine Ohuruogu, Paula Radcliffe and Usain Bolt over the 4 and 5 of August, demand for tickets is likely to be high.

Saturday 4 August is being called “Super Saturday” with the results of the heptathlon competition and the women’s 100m final taking prime-time slots. The Olympic rowing and swimming competitions will also reach their climaxes.

The dates, times, venues and prices for more than 600 competition sessions across all 26 Olympic sports are being emailed to the 2.2m people who have signed up for info ahead of tickets going on sale on 15 March.

London 2012 chairman and Double Olympic champion Sebastian Coe described them as the “greatest tickets on earth for the greatest show on earth”.

“We are now getting to the business end of the project and we know from the number of people who have signed up for ticket information that there is a real hunger from all parts of the country to be there.”

Visit www.tickets.london2012.com/about_tickets.html#prices to download the full timetable for the London 2012 Olympic Games.

And don’t forget, tickets go on sale on 15 March!

You can see world-class sport at the London 2012 Olympics from as little as £20 a ticket, London 2012 has revealed.

And tickets to the Opening Ceremony will cost between £20.10 and £2,012, depending, presumably, on where you sit.

There are 8.8m tickets available for the 2012 Games: three-quarters of these will be sold to the public from March next year. You need to apply for tickets when sales are launched in March, even if you’ve registered your details with London 2012 and you have a ticketing account.

Ticket prices for different events vary across the 39 disciplines and 649 sports sessions, but London 2012 says 90% of the tickets will cost less than £100, two-thirds will cost less than £50 and there’ll be 2.5m tickets at £20 or less.

There are also interesting discounts for youngsters across all Olympic sports, where the cost of a ticket for under 16s will be the same as the child’s age on 27 Jul 2012. (Also: seniors aged 60 and over on 27 July 2012 will pay just £16.)

Events such as the marathon, road cycling and the triathlon will be free.

Paralympic Games ticket prices will be announced in 2011.

Olympic Games tickets go on sale in March 2011. Paralympic Games tickets will go on sale separately later in 2011. Read more on www.tickets.london2012.com
