Happy Valentine’s Day to all the London lovers out there! Last week, we asked our Visit London Facebook fans how they were planning to celebrate Valentine’s in our favourite city.

Lots of you who don’t live in London said it’d be a treat just to be here (aw thanks!). Others said they’d be watching films or going to French restaurants with their loved ones. And some lonely hearts said they’d be spending the day alone.

Everyman Cinemas are showing two classic romances – Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Casablanca, served with a glass of champagne and a cupcake each. 14 Feb, £40 for two

Work your way through five courses at Searcys restaurant at the Barbican and you’ll receive a complimentary glass of fizz to wash it down with. 14 Feb (lunch or dinner after 7.30pm), £40 per person

Crafty couples should head to WWT London Wetlands Centre where you can decorate a bird box together (£12.99) or make your own bird feeder (£2 suggested donation). 12-13 Feb

Try love potions by Bompas & Parr, learn the cha cha and make a Valentine’s card at Museum of London’s late event. 14 Feb, £6

Would it involve flowers, candlelight… or fish, seaweed, and a shark?!

Hopefully, the latter three featured on Natalie Schwaiger’s list, as her boyfriend David Green proposed to her at the SEA LIFE London Aquarium last month.

David and Natalie waited patiently at the Aquarium’s entrance, with Natalie thinking they were going to have their very own personalised tour.

But the wait was really to allow time for the London Aquarium’s Deputy Curator, Jamie Oliver, to dive into the tropical display. Here, he got into position (with the big question written on a board) surrounded by two giant turtles, stingrays and a few species of shark!

When the couple approached the tropical display, David got down on bended knee and said the words written on the board, “Natalie, will you marry me?”

Natalie accepted with tear-filled eyes and the happy couple are due to marry later this year!

David explained, “We went on our first date to the London Aquarium. Natalie had told me that when I did ask her, it had to be good, so I thought this would just about cut it!”

If you’re interested in popping the question this Valentine’s Day, contact the Aquarium on +44 (0)20 7960 073. The underwater proposal service includes a glass of champagne, your very own diver, and a photo to capture the magic moment. All for £60.

Sexy singleton, 28, WLTM gorgeous, fun, creative guy w GSOH and similar hobbies: photography, visiting exciting London venues, meeting new people. Preferably ready for a challenge / competition? A passion for sexy slideshows a must.

We know there are plenty of Lonely Hearts out there in London. If you’ve tried speed dating, online dating, silent dating and dating in the dark (really), we’re here to tell you about something brand new. And a lot more fun.

Funky creative photography collective Shoot Experience are holding their debut Shoot Dating event next weekend.

If you find small talk difficult under the pressure of a date, let the power of creativity play its hand at match-making. You don’t need any photographic experience to find love through a lens: just a little enthusiasm and some of cupid’s dark-room magic.

In teams of four (two boys, two girls), you’ll be given a clue and asked to photograph an answer. With each clue comes a new team, giving you the chance to meet eight different dates during the afternoon.

Shoot Dating is being held at the deliciously sexy underground Turkish baths in Bishopgate. Post photo-clue hunt, daters will return to The Bathhouse to watch a slideshow of the day’s images, and get the results of the competition for the most creative photos.

Tickets cost £20; alongside the afternoon of match-making fun and creativity, you also get a themed photobooth, lovers cupcakes, drink offers, prizes *and* free entry to The Bathhouse’s Rockabilly-themed night after the event for your cash.

At the end of the evening, daters who’ve ticked each others’ boxes (ahem) will be put in touch via email, leaving you to complete your own romantic adventures…

Sound like fun? Check out www.shootexperience.com/events for more details.
