And let us know if we’ve missed any gems in the comments box below.

Avoid the football:

Get 50% off your food at Dim t during all England World Cup matches. Download the voucher and make sure you place your order between kick-off and final whistle

If the weather’s good, escape to the terrace at Sanderson for an al fresco champagne dinner and not so much as a mention of the F-word. 7pm, 12 & 18 Jun 2010

And the rest:

Look to the skies at the free Blackheath Bike and Kite Festival 2010. 12-13 Jun 2010

Explore The Surreal House exhibition at Barbican, including work by Salvador Dali. Until 12 Sep 2010

Listen to live jazz at The Last Days of Decadence in Shoreditch. 11 Jun 2010

The weird and wonderful world of Surrealism comes to Barbican Art Gallery from tomorrow. I was treated to a preview of the Surreal House exhibition today and highlights included:

Several works by Salvador Dali

Rebecca Horn’s Concert for Anarchy, an upside-down piano, which surprises you when it starts to play and all the keys spring out

Edward Hopper’s House by the Railroad, 1925. The painting was the model for the house in Alfred Hitchcock’s Psycho, and it also inspired Cemetery Lane, home of the Addams family in the 1960s TV series

The lower gallery is set out in a series of small, interlinked rooms, and the exhibition continues in the upper gallery. I spent an hour there and didn’t manage to see everything. I’d recommend allowing at least two hours to look around, especially if you want to watch the excellent Surrealist films.

While you’re there, check out the free John Bock exhibition in the Curve Gallery on the ground floor. The show features large, meccano-like insects attached to the walls, and there will be a series of live performances featuring a strange crane-type vehicle - keep an eye on the Barbican website for details.

Surreal House and John Bock are at the Barbican from 10 July to 12 September 2010
