Italy has arrived in London! Italian restaurant Zizzi has just opened in the spectacular new Central Saint Giles building designed by Italian architect Renzo Piano.

Grammy-nominated singer and saxophonist Becki Biggins is hosting a series of music evenings with guest performers and that could include you!

Zizzi sessions will be running every Thursday during December and if you want to perform, you’ll need to book a table and speak to Becki on the night. There’s a menu of songs to choose from. As a thank you for entertaining the audience, you’ll get your dinner for free and help raise lots of money for the Prince’s Trust.

For those of us who don’t want to subject an audience to our chilling private howling, it’s a chance to enjoy exciting, sophisticated and spontaneous live music from great singers in a buzzing atmosphere and tuck into something tasty from Zizzi’s menu of reliable favourites.

The brand new One New Change shopping centre opens today near St Paul’s Cathedral and, to celebrate, Zizzi is opening a pop-up bar serving free prosecco and Italian nibbles.

I popped into the One New Change branch of Zizzi last night, where illustrator Amy Murray from Edinburgh College of Art was putting the finishing touches to the London-themed pictures on the walls.

The decor is inspired by the history of the local area, with milk churns and street signs for Milk Street, Bread Street and Honey Lane. Look out for the brilliant St Paul’s Cathedral picture on the pizza oven.

I enjoyed a tasty vegetarian risotto, and was impressed by the man on a neighbouring table, who devoured a huge pizza in just a few minutes. (Apparently Zizzi serves some of the largest pizzas in town.)

If you’re in the area this evening, call in for free drinks, free nibbles and a look at London’s newest shopping centre.

Zizzi’s free prosecco bar is on the ground floor of One New Change from 5.30-7.30pm today. The restaurant is also giving away free Prosecco Royales to diners, and collecting donations for the Prince’s Trust charity.
